Gladys Taber was born in Auburn, New York in 1904. She grew up in a prominent family in which her father was a Baptist minister and her mother was a schoolteacher. In 1930 she married George Taber, a professor at the University of Southern California. They had three children: George Jr., Barbara and Beverly. In addition to her writing career, Gladys also raised and home-schooled her children and continued her education throughout their youth.
Gladys's first novel, "The Man Who Lived on Love", was published by Simon and Schuster in 1952. Her last novel, "The Whirlwind", was published posthumously by Simon and Schuster in 1984.
